I’ve been a busy little bee lately, trying to cram in as much making as possible for the upcoming craft fair this weekend. I wasn’t able to make near as much as I had planned, but hey, life has been particularly chaotic as of late. As in, really quite rough. And it appears this roughness will continue for the foreseeable future. So. You know. I’m patting myself on the back for what I was able to accomplish.
Without further ado, I bring you (just go with it) my Holiday 2010 Collection.
Pretty little sewn butterfly garlands made from pages of an old book.
Dozens and dozens of sewn “unpaper” towels (or simple, everyday napkins) made from 100% unbleached cotton. I made a batch of these a couple months back for our home and we are just smitten. And our paper towel and napkin consumption is next to zero. I hope others will enjoy them as well.
Lastly, I re-purposed all my empty spools and wound hundreds of yards of blue and brown baker’s twine. These will be the perfect complement to those brown paper packages and gift tags.
Looking back on everything that I have made has been really interesting to me. It’s all very simple and elegant; muted, neutral, pale…perhaps all a bit French even. I’m generally like, KA-BOOM! COLOR! So yeah, interesting.
I thought all these birds that were staring at me through my window the other day were interesting (or creepy) as well. Man, I’m sort of nervous about this fair. Nervous as in, “man that would thoroughly suck if I didn’t sell a thing.” Stay tuned.

Kim,
You are totally going to make sales. That garland is so beautiful, delicate and sweet! And the towels are so useful and elegant. I love how you packaged them too!
Beautiful!!! Wow!!!
yes, to echo the comments above me – very lovely!
i hope you do well at the sale!
I like the un-color of everything (to go along with the un-paper towels). It’s very subtle.
I love the simplicity and beauty of all your products. I could see myself buying any one of these. I especially love the butterfly garland….I wish you much success at the craft fair.

Thanks for inviting me to participate Elizabeth, as well as for your kind comments.
I’m so sorry to hear things have been tough. I can sympathize more than I’d like and sometimes feel like crafting is the only thing that really keeps me moving.
Your latest creations are beautiful and so serene. And all those teeny butterflies! I am in love!
Tons of luck with the craft fair!!!

Thank you so much ladies! I do appreciate each and every one of your lovely comments. It really feels great.
Wow, color me impressed (or neutral me impressed, whatever mood you’re in). Also, after watching a PBS special about crows, my husband is horrified by them, so go with creepy.
I’m loving your photography and the projects. Yay!

These are amazing! Are the unpaper towels muslin? I do want to do this.
xo,
Ang
Yes! They are an unbleached cotton muslin. I have to say though, that I ended up using these as napkins after awhile because while the muslin worked great at sopping up messes for awhile, they started to loose the ability to suck up moisture. I am guessing it was residue from laundry soap, but I’m confused about that because I’ve had no issues with anything other rags or tea towels. Now I just use old towels which I’ve chopped up to rag size and they work excellent. It’s taken us OVER A YEAR to use a pack of paper towels (I think it was a 12 pack) and it has saved us loads.
