I have several wips going on right now: a quilt, an embroidered wall hanging, a recipe binder, multiple child-sized aprons, bean bags, a skirt, and I have been replacing all of our beauty and body care products with non-toxic, homemade versions. I try to work on something a bit each and every day, but my, this toddler of mine has me wiped by 7:00pm. And that is truly when my “making” begins.
I’m also on this crazy organizing spree. It never ceases to amaze me how quickly we can accumulate stuff and spaces can get cluttered. Lately I’ve been setting the timer for a half hour here and there and getting down and dirty.

The weird kitchen nook thing is cleaned out and organized on a semi-regular basis and yet somehow, it always looks something like this.
Often times I’ll set it for thirty minutes only to spend hours and hours organizing away (this is done, of course, either insanely late at night while everyone is sleeping or on the weekends when Mister is home). It is such an amazing, LIBERATING feeling to make progress, even if seemingly minute.
Hope you have been well. Do tell what you’ve been up to!

Wow, you’ve got a lot on your plate! I’ve got many projects going, too … going nowhere right now because I just can’t find time to work on anything! Maybe once the hubby finally graduates I’ll get some time back!
I meant to reply much sooner to your comment on my blog about Nourishing Traditions — I hope you get a chance to check it out! It is really as much of a textbook as a cookbook. And my friend who first introduced me to it once said, “I’m trying to live my life by it,” which at the time struck me as an unusual thing to say about a cookbook, but now I understand. Also, Nina Planck’s Real Food is a good introduction to a lot of the concepts in NT, and a bit easier to sit down and read.
Have a great day!

And you’ve reminded me once again that I need to put that book on hold! Thank you for the other recommendation. My friend actually got me Real Food for Mama and Baby has a little gift and I read the majority of it, though weirdly after pregnancy. I need to pick up where I left off again! My midwives were amazing about providing insight on nutrition as well as several new mama groups that I attended post-partum. Nearly two years ago we switched to whole milk, are somewhat sticklers about buying local and organic meat and produce. Such a wealth of information, that book. Thanks again!
you can borrow my copy, kimberly!

I’ve felt completely overwhelmed with the state of our house lately. I just look around and ask myself “where did all this STUFF come from!” I’m hoping that I’ll be inspired to begin some spring cleaning shortly.

Oh my gosh, such wonderful things going on!!! I hope you take a day off to enjoy the snow. I love the idea of setting the timer for 30 min.!
I feel you on the tons to do, no energy left to do them. I’ve been organizing a lot too – I never realized what hoarders my husband and I can be. Our pantry was so unorganized we had four bottles of balsamic vinegar and it was on the grocery list! I love the timer trick. I’ve been trying to sneak in little projects right after the baby goes down and before I’m black out exhausted, I think the timer would help.

Can’t wait to see your WIPS. I know what you mean about cleaning and reorganizing. I’ve so been doing that myself and it does feel good. Good to get rid of things we don’t use and good to be able to easily find the stuff we do, plus it just looks a ton better. Way to go, I’d never thought of using a timer.
I, too, have been organizing lately. Trying to simplify mainly. How do I accumulate so much stuff?? Finding homes for it all just makes my life more stressful, so I’ve been making lots of trips to Goodwill for delivery, rather than pickup!
I’ve also started my indoor seeds, some new knitting projects using recycled yarn, making letterpressed business cards out of recycled packaging, and I’m planning some handmade tags for my Etsy items.
Glad I found your great blog!
Thanks Justine – welcome to Bambino Steps! Oh you’ve reminded me that I need to start my seeds. Now what to do to keep them from my toddler…hmm…
I just posted yesterday about all the wip’s around my place as well. My trouble isn’t so much how many things are in progress, it is how many things I am dreaming of, the things I wish were in progress. It’s a good problem to have, I suppose.
Enjoy all your making! and organizing!
this is looking a lot like my life right now! I have so many wips and thankfully they are not stressing me out right now but are making me very happy to have so many fun projects bubbling on all my burners : )

Just awesome, and great pictures. I have to say, I especially love the messy shelf one. It is always good to know I am not alone in my exuberance for projects and subsequent penchant for piles.
Your sewing pictures have me really itching to fire up my machine now!
oh man, my whole house looks like that nook! especially the mantle and our computer desk (which is elevated). they are the perfect spots to quickly place things to keep from your little one.
i accidentally fantasized about pulling an all-nighter to clean and get stuff done after a late night kitchen cleaning frenzy (which did feel amazing to get done!)… and then i couldn’t sleep all night!

Oh I think you have a VERY good excuse (two to be exact!) Kendra! I have taken three car loads of miscellany to the Goodwill this week and I feel so liberated. I forsee several more trips to the G.W. in my very near future.
